Greetje Bijma
Singer of a loony and multifaceted jazz, her voice being as elastic as Yma Sumac (in reverse: Amy Camus), able to incarnate Marlene Dietrich's sweetness as well as Nina Hagen's coarseness, Greetje Bijma started to sing improvisation in the 80's, along with David Moss (Direct Sound) and Alan Laurillard, composer of Tales of a Voice. Very fond of scat singing, she adds to it her love for African music, connected with a sound exploration of the animal world and other vocal textures. She has been touring with Willem Breuker, recorded here on Heibel, including a hilarious version of concerto #7 for piano by J.S. Bach (Bahthree). |
