David Moss
Davis Moss is first of all a percussionnist, graduate in his youth in Russian History, and also a self-taught singer and greatly fond of Jazz music. In the Eighties, he published two major albums, Full house and Times Stories, made of duos with emergent experimental musicians, such as John Zorn, Jaap Blonk, Greetje Bijma or Christian Marclay. His works is a collage of rumbles, home made hip-hop excerpts, imprecise swings, consciously influenced by certain musics known as "ethnic" (pygmies amongst other things) or by others of his contemporaries, one thinks of John Cage. Recently David Moss revisited the J.S. Bach Goldberg Variations with the Uri Caine ensemble. |
