Bob Brozman
What happen when two bluesmen from the opposite shores of the Pacific Ocean and both bearing in minds the aim of playing Japanese traditional counting rhymes meet on Taketomi, a small island on Okinawa? It actually turns into incredible recordings of a very surprising color, unclassifiable. American Bob Brozman accompanies Japanese Takashi Hirayasu, who plays on a sanshin, a traditional snakeskin guitar with three cords. Recorded in a few days only in a home made studio, Jin Jin/Firefly led the two musicians to meet again on Nakaru Naisa a little later, this time recorded in California. With french composer René Lacaille from La Réunion island, Brozman beautifully intertwines his cords with the complex rythms of séga and maloya. |
